Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is CrossFit?

CrossFit is a precise combination of exercise and nutrition that has been proven to increase fitness and health for people of all ages and abilities. CrossFit is founded on the first scientifically rigorous definition of fitness: The program produces observable results that can be measured and replicated. Constantly varied, functional movements, preformed at high intensity.

We do all types of functional training: Gymnastics, Weightlifting, Olympic Lifting, Power Lifting, body weight movements, running, swimming, cycling, etc.

Can I lose weight with CrossFit?

Yes. Strength, Training, and High-Intensity Training have shown to be one of the most effective weight loss tools. We also recommend a change in diet to maximize results.

Who is CrossFit good for?

Everyone can do CrossFit regardless of age, injuries, and current fitness level. The program can be modified for each athlete to help him or her become fitter and healthier. Grandparents and Olympians—and everyone in between—can perform modified versions of the same workout.

Is CrossFit safe?

Yes. CrossFit training is very safe, and sitting on your couch is dangerous. In CrossFit gyms, credentialed trainers provide precise instructions and coaching to help people move safely and efficiently, helping them avoid all the diseases and injuries that come from inactivity, obesity and poor nutrition.

Do I need to be in shape to start CrossFit?

No. CrossFit is the fitness and nutrition program that will get you in shape. No matter what your current fitness level is, you can start CrossFit. You can start CrossFit if you've never worked out, if you have injuries, or if you're sick or overweight. CrossFit workouts are modified to help each person succeed, improve fitness and take daily steps toward goals. As you become fitter, your workouts will be adjusted to challenge you at your new level.

Can I try a CrossFit Class before I sign-up?

How long will it take to see results with CrossFit?

After 2 - 4 weeks you'll begin to see changes in your body and mind.

What does a CrossFit gym offer that a regular gym doesn’t?

At Branded One we offer small group training classes were each workout is predetermined and personalized for you and your ability. A coach will help keep you safe and instruct you on how to perform each movement.

Community, Accountability, Care & Trust = Results.

What is a WOD?

Is the predetermined Workout of the Day. Some other abbreviations used at Branded One CrossFit are:

AMRAP: As many reps as possible

AMRAP workouts are timed with a fixed time limit in which you need to do As Many Reps (repetitions) As Possible. The higher the number, the better!

EMOM: Every minute, on the minute

Another type of workout with a fixed time limit is EMOM, or every minute on the minute. These workouts are also scored as how many reps you can do overall, but note that as time goes on your rest periods will likely get shorter!

RX: As prescribed

The goal for any crossfitter is to be able to do the workouts RX’ed, or as prescribed. Since Crossfit workouts can be scaled based on abilities the goal is to work your way up to what the workout is supposed to be like. Examples of scaling could be using a lighter weight, completing fewer repetitions, or doing assisted pull-ups.

PR: Personal Record

With any workout or lift, the goal is to strive for a  personal record. This is a great way to measure progress and track results!

What if I can't use the recommended weight?

Use a weight that's manageable for you or use a percentage of the weight prescribed. Replace movements you can't do with those you can. Our qualified and experienced coaches will help with all of this, so don't worry about figuring any of this out.

How much is a CrossFit Membership?

Not all gym memberships are equal. Schedule a no sweat consultation today and let us show you why we get results!

What about nutrition?

To accomplish your goals faster, we recommend you eat a variety of healthy foods in quantities that support fitness training but not body fat. By avoiding excessive amounts of refined carbohydrates (sugars) and measuring your protein, carbohydrate and fat intake, you will see measurable increases in health. Here's a simple starting point: Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch, and no sugar.

***We also offer FREE nutrition advice at your quarterly 1-on-1 consultation (included in your membership)
