What Is CrossFit?

•CrossFit's definition of "fitness" is inspired by other models that quantify and qualify the term, encompassing multiple aspects of health like diet, movements, sports and training.
• Nutrition is the base of health and the most important part of fitness. CrossFitters often follow the Paleo Diet or Zone Diet.
• The modalities that influenced CrossFit's movements the most are weightlifting, gymnastics and cardiovascular activities.
• Workouts are short and intense, with different workouts everyday to keep you engaged.
• The goal is to better our lives outside the gym - learning different sports is also a great mental stimulation

Fitness in 100 Words

"Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar. Keep intake to levels that will support exercise but not body fat. Practice and train major lifts: deadlift, clean, squat, presses, C&J, and snatch. Similarly, master the basics of gymnastics: pull-ups, dips, rope climb, push-ups, sit-ups, presses to handstand, pirouettes, flips, splits, and holds. Bike, run, swim, row, etc., hard and fast. Five or six days per week, mix these elements in as many combinations and patterns as creativity will allow. Routine is the enemy. Keep workouts short and intense. Regularly learn and play new sports." —Greg Glassman, CrossFit Founder

Breaking It Down

The importance of nutrition cannot be overstated, especially in fitness. The instructions on what to eat might remind you of the Paleo Diet and that is no coincidence; many CrossFitters are avid followers or even strict adherers for this type nutritional plan which has made it popular among athletes like them!

The second section refers to three different modalities that influenced CrossFit's movements the most: weightlifting, gymnastics and cardiovascular activities. Each has an important part to play in the development of speed, strength, cardiovascular fitness and more.

The third section explains exactly what CrossFit is known for - short and intense workouts. A different workout every day to keep users engaged and anxious for more is a great way of ensuring customer loyalty in this fast-paced world we live in today!

The last line is simple yet important. CrossFit has been helping people better their lives outside the gym for years. Whether it's spending time with friends or family, being able to do activities that were once limited by what you can physically accomplish in Crossfit style workouts - there are so many benefits! Learning different sports is also an awesome mental stimulation as well; mastering one new skill requires coordination and accuracy which will only improve your other skills over time.
